Steve as you don't want me to try and get it regenerated and Archie will probably end up on a flight mission to Mars with the remaining components I will take you up on the kind and generous offer of the front fascia as a spare. Thank you. Just keep hold til we next hook up. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! @ all ... I'm not going to rush into a new headunit. My requirements are big buttons, simple to use and connects with apple products. BT would be nice.. pretty much all the parrot unit did.
been thinking about just sending the unit back to parrot like K9F is hinting .. @custom90Steve - thanks for your input, I'm guessing you sell Kenwood kit or are you just very keen on it as you have it in your logo ? I've had Kenwood in the past and I agree it's nice kit, we also have naim, nakamichi and focal .. all well built. ... time for me to have a good look at Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood and others .. watch this space becker used to be a good make .. but their web site is sh....e |

No more 'hints'..... Steve I think you'd be mad not to send it back.....You answered all your 'needs' in the bold sentence. Unless of course you want to throw £300 down the pan after a mere 16 months with very limited use. Got nothing to lose in my book. Hopefully they'll sort it and 'lesson learnt' if it ain't broke, don't mess! Hope they can sort it for you. Good luck and keep us posted...... Nope, No connections with sales what so ever BP just going by my own experiences with Kenwood kit. What ever you choose if it's a premium brand you should touch wood have something good. If you want any help or advice you can always drop me a PM if you see fit. P.s. This is worth a look.. In budget has ALL the features you asked for. Kenwood KDC-BT92SD 1) BT built in (No external unit with this one!) Also with an external mic. Ideal for the Defender. Also by Parrot. 2) Variable illumination so you can have green as the display colour.. 3) Made for iPod / iPhone (With quality iPod connections which Alpine are renowned for of being poor quality) 4) Suitable for Android even if not required. 5) Can also play from SD card CD ect 6) Detachable faceplate (ideal as extra security) PIN code option available also 7) A good 4x50w power output so should sound good! 8 ) From what I can see large clearly laid out buttons and display. I could go on and on... KEEP CALM AND Drill ON 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |

That's what the 'reset' button's for isn't it? Very rarely had to use it but no further issues when I have. The simplicity of the unit far outweighs any niggles, it is also one of the coolest for styling in my view too. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! With that route there is nothing to lose. Either use the replacement or sell and you have pretty much a free different HU. KEEP CALM AND Drill ON

I don't have any issues with the Alpine unit I fitted or with the Ipod connection which is a more solid heavier duty connection compared to the Apple supplied ones.

No, and probably no one else does either. This is a problem you get on some forums. Some People freely give out misleading information with nothing to back it up with and it's just plain wrong. It's worth bearing in mind that large multinational corporations take their market reputation very seriously. They employ people to periodically trawl the web looking for unsubstantiatable statements like this and do prosecute. I personally would not make a claim like that on a public forum unless I had first hand experience and evidence to back it up. Pete |
