D J - Some price difference here: E-bay 526
BP - Glad you think so but annoyingly a little over your budget amount (the 526) bBut believe me you wouldn't regret it. See link above. The KIV 700 maybe wort a look too as it's cheaper and has good features. But personally I'd go for the 526 every time. Personal choice and up to you really. But I wouldn't touch Alpine myself.. Over priced by a long shot and no better than others on the market. Pioneer I would prefer to Alpine for quality as they are a very close in comparison IMHO to the 526. (I think D J has one) Very nice it is too. Can't give anything else but advice the rest is your preference and up to you. Have my eye on one of these - the top of the line Pioneer unit. Not had chance to have a listen yet, but seems quite highly regarded on some of the car audio forums. 2013 Defender 110 XS DCPU

Slightly But lesson learnt historically when I had an unauthorised Q068 ECU software update carried out by dealers (after telling them 'No software upgrades!') which messed up my remap for about three months til the gremlins were sorted out. Can you not get your Parrot totally wiped and an original software reboot? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! @K9F - it's really dead. I've tried a few things even had the back off to look for a cmos battery.
If you'd like a spare front panel - it's yours ! |

Lend me the unit and I may know of someone from MJR Controls that may (or may not) be able to resurrect it for you perhaps? Not sure how busy he is or how long it may take but if it's dead does it really matter? http://www.mjrcontrols.co.uk/ If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! @BP The Alpine units are very good value for money. As you've already pointed out everything is already in the box, including the Bluetooth, which is done for them by Parrot.
Some manufacturers just seem to want to rip you off for all the add ons, which in this day and age of connectivity is completely unacceptible if you ask me. Their quality also continues to be good. I've got some old Alpine stuff in the loft which still works 30 years on. Pete |

Alpine just include it in the price out of the box so ultimately you pay the same either way. Each and everyone to their own but I'd never touch it with a barge pole. I think LR should have stuck to using Clarion Electronics personally.
Parrot is pretty much market leader for in car BT so the prices are pretty steep with it either way as you are paying a premium for both Kenwood/Parrot / Alpine/Parrot so that alone shoots the price up. Also I don't know what the Alpine BT is like (perhaps the same) but I like the fact that the Kenwood/Parrot BT unit is external and has a mountable mic to place anywhere you like. That way in the Defender you can get the best sound quality possible. Also by having the BT unit externally mounted you can avoid any possible electrical interference as well to boot. Especially seeing as in the dash are there is a LOT of electrics. KEEP CALM AND Drill ON 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |
