Steering Backlash
Do you think that a new steering box would have the backlash correctly set in the factory?

Reason I ask, when we collected the Landy the other day we saw the mechanic still sitting in the drivers side and wiggling the steering wheel from side to side. When I asked if all was ok he said "ready to collect sir"

I noticed today when I wiggle the steering there is an ever so slight knocking.

Could it be the pinch bolt on the steering link or the new box not properly set?

Any ideas how to search for the cause.

That's the end plan but with our dealer's it's best to be able to tell em exacltly what they need to fix.
Otherwise they just fob you off.

Update
This morning I had a quick look and found there is vertical play in the lower steering column bush/bearing.
I can rattle the output shaft up and down to re-create the rattle.
Dosn't seem too seriouse a problem, but how did it all of a sudden start happening after fitting the new box?

Maybe the alignment is slightly not the same and the turning moment causes a slight lift on the column shaft.

I will have to have a good look Saturday.

Update
According to dealer it was a knock of the pinch bolt on the steering input against the fan cowl Embarassed

I Couldn't see inbetween all the plastic to notice that one.
