Tank
Today the fun controller and I went and chose a Tank, well, our Tank.

He's just over 4 weeks old and we'll be bringing him home the weekend of the 9th of Feb. He's a Dogue De Bordeaux. Whilst a cute ball of skin and fur with a big head he's gonna grow! His dad is 9 stone and him mum is 7.5. Tank was pick of the litter.

A friend had one, they are lovely dogs, beautiful blue eyes (are we allowed to say beautiful on a defender forum?) haha.

God do they grow! Outgrew our colleies in well under 6 months! Congratulations on the new family addition. ===================================

bigdave, yeah we expect him to be much bigger by the time we pick him up. Fortunately we have a friend who has one so know the breed as well as you can with out actually having one of your own.

I can't wait to collect him!!

Lishlandy, I think talking about puppies is the only time beautiful can be used on a defender forum.....So go using it willy nilly or folk will start talking. Just sayin..haha

The chap that services my landy has a Dogue De Bordeaux wandering around his farm - he's a brute (the dog, not my mechanic), but handsome. Look forward to seeing the photos of him growing up! Thumbs Up Peter

Thanks again guys.

fekete - He'd just been fed and was ready for a snooze, hence the face!!

Mr Flips - The nice people we're getting him from said they'd send some photos as he grows + I'll get some more the weekend we get him, he will have changed so much!

Gum - I know mate! I had used to have a German Shepherd (named Thor), but me becoming single and working full time just wasn't fair on him. I spent months trying to find the right home for him.....never been so heart broken!

Glyn - The whole house has just been decorated as we only moved in in May......except the dinning room aka puppy training room. He'll be trained in there until he can be trusted to have full run of the down stairs. Bordeauxs' are intelligent dogs so I intend to have him at the same standard as Thor was. I can't be having th ebest part of 10 stones being unruly! Just one gap in the garden fence to sort and I'm puppy proof.....hopefully! Strong people are harder to kill and generally more useful!

Well Saturday was the big day! We picked Tank up and and what an awesome boy he is! He travelled home in the footwell of the Missus Saab with no bother at all.

He was partially paper trained so we started off with that but day 1 and 2 he missed/didn't make the paper a couple of times. He was obviously a little out of sorts so it's no dramas at all. He made a bit of a racket Saturday night though as it's the first night away from his 9 pup litter and mum so again...to be expected. So much so that the little one stayed with Nanny and Grandad that night so her sleep wasn't disturbed. It was also his first night in a cage, as we're cage training him. Not something I've done before but was recommended by the vets and loads of good reviews online. He has taken to it quite well now....In fact he's in there snooring his head off at the moment! The cage will be used for approx 2/3 months then he'll have full run of the undecorated dinning room. Once trusted not to chew everything he'll have the full run of the down stairs when we're not about/overnight.

It's day 4 now and he's already toileting out side, with the occasional accident on route to the back door. He slept all through the night last night, pretty much. Whined at 3am so out the door, pee'd than ran back to his bed and was alseep before I could get the dinning room light off. So all in all a good start!!

2nd jabs booked for the 27th

Tank has been home for 3 weeks now and couldn't imagine not having him around!

Toilet training is going well, only one accident last week and he's done the last three nights sleeping right through from 22:30 ish till about 06:30 with out needing to wake me up to let him out.

He's had his second jabs and will be going out for walks from Wednesday onwards.

He's averaging about 5lbs (2.2kg) a week at the moment

A couple of photos from this morning
