As one of the organisers I guess I have to be there, but will anyone else from here be in attendance? If you're going would be great for you to come and say hello, I might be busy but as a social event its all about meeting people.
If you're interested in coming, you can book on our website (clicky link below) and I look forward to meeting a few of you over the weekend. Mark S CONVOY for HEROES www.facebook.com/convoy4heroes www.lothian4x4response.org ------ Td5 90 Thread in 'My Defender' Forum |

We can all find excuses as to why one event is less popular to another, last years event was at the height of a renewed "fuel crisis" where there was a lot of talk of tanker drivers going on strike. The weather wasn't the kindest, it was the start of the 2012 summer. Convoy 4 Heroes is still a new event aimed solely at Land Rover owners/drivers and just because we hold the record it doesn't mean that the aim of the event is second place, it is our aim to put the record out of reach of anyone else coming anywhere near. The South Africans have shown the world that it is possible but the intricacies and foibles of the Guiness World Records team need to be taken into account which our team understand and comply with.
The positive by-product of the attempt to have the longest parade of Land Rovers is the money raised for Help for Heroes. There are no concessionary tickets, all of us as organisers pay exactly the same ticket prices as the next man and there are no salaries or expenses drawn from the event. The biggest thing that was noticed at last years event was that the atmosphere was exactly the same as 2011 at Gaydon. It's a weekend where there's a group of like minded Land Rover owners/drivers getting together for a craic and for a good cause. With any event it is the "people through the gate" that denotes success if money is the measure, I'm sure most of us at C4H will agree the biggest measure for us is that everybody through the gate enjoys themselves in a relaxed atmosphere in the knowledge that they are supporting a great cause and a desire to come back again and do it all over again next year |

JWL has covered the main points, as a founding director of C4H I can confirm I've drawn no personal expenses and will always pay the same as everyone else to attend the event. We do want to make C4H bigger and better every year, in order to raise as much as we can for H4H, so I'd encourage you to get involved if you can. Even by liking the Facebook page www.facebook.com/convoy4heroes and sharing our status updates, book onto this years convoy, and you could even volunteer to help out at the event itself.
To date C4h has raised over £25 000 for H4H, this year you could be a part of making that total grow. Mark S CONVOY for HEROES www.facebook.com/convoy4heroes www.lothian4x4response.org ------ Td5 90 Thread in 'My Defender' Forum |

We have been to the last 2, we ran a convoy from North East Scotland, and last when we got to the camp site we had 9 fowling through the gate, great atmasvear at first and second even in the rain. great for family's and to make new friends, sadly the camper we have been restoring will not be ready in time, (well gutted) but run out of money, will be their next year. If you can go please do, you will make some more friends for life.

I've heard from other sources that only pre-booked people will get in.
The camping area is apparently half bog and half building site. |

I was thinking about making a donation and coming along on the Sunday too, but as others have said, seems only to be open to those who pre-book, which would be a shame.....
Anyone know if this is the way it's gonna be?? '09 SVX #200 '10 Morphy Richards.. I mean Prius |

Well it seems you must have prebooked, booking has been open for a while and the dates have been up for nearly a year, so plenty of time for people to have checked. Live Life Ti'l You Die
