iPod Nano 7th generation (latest) any good?

Currently wondering whether one would be a good purchase. So I am wondering if anyone has one at all? What do you think? And what's the idea behind these new lightning cable / plugs? Currently I have a Nano 4th Gen so a bit out of date.

And also running out of memory space.

Not interested in an iPhone (I'll probably get lynched for saying so)

but I have considered the iPod touch only issue with that is I have some concerns over compatibility with my HU in the Defender as on the latest Kenwood firmware page they mention Audio only supported for iPod touch.

Perhaps I ought to contact them and ask.

Any thoughts welcome.

*Edit* Oops seems that it is / will be compatible with my HU: http://www.kenwood.com/cs/ce/ipod/

IMO, you're better off putting £100 in a pot and sticking with what you've got. I have no idea what features are on either unit but it's unlikely whatever extra you get with the new one it's worth £100. But that's me, I avoid obsolete selling items wherever possible.

AndyS - You could well be right as a rule I myself aren't the type to follow the crowd and update to every new model there is. The only real reason I was enquiring really was because I thought with there being a few years now between the generations I was wondering if there was and really useful good features that maybe a positive to it. That said if one had WiFi it wouldn't be any use to me for a start as our internet is set up as wire not wireless. Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes.

2009 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 HT Santorini Black

I was looking at Nano's and Mini's and Touches a couple of years back, but eventually settled with the Classic, 160gb and pretty reasonably priced compared to the others. Obviously you don't get all the funky features on it, but the battery lasts pretty much forever, and it spent pretty much all its time in the cubby box in the Defender, even over winter it never missed a beat, apart from once or twice when it locked up. Compatible with pretty much every HU that has iPod support too.

My only beef with it is the mirrored back scratches really easily, although thats probably not helped by the fact it spent all its time in the cubby box...

I think it depends how you intend to control it - if you are using the HU controls then extra features really make no difference - I have an Alpine HU and if I use its controls an ipod is an iPod and it sees no difference between my old Classic iPod or my iPhone.

On the other and, if I set the HU to use the device's own controls, then using cover flow on the iPhone (or on a Touch) whilst having the phone in a powered cradle in the dash is much more convenient. but I only do that because I use it for phone and sat nav apps as well. If you are plugging in the iPod and then hiding it away somewhere, I'd say go for a big capacity cheap Classic Fully Restored 89 110 CSW V8
