Big Cry

Bloody flooding. Been through a hell of a lot of water these last few weeks and the D3 started throwing suspension faults this evening after a few days with a noisy compressor. Got it up on stands this evening and am going to check the air dryer tomorrow. It could be a quick fix, in which case I'll be there Saturday. If it needs a new compressor or the height rods recalibrating I'm unlikely to make it. Would bring the Defender, but wife needs it in the shoot this weekend Crying or Very sad

Not bad - 100,000 miles in conditions from -24°C to +38°C, through water over the bonnet,8 countries, towing at the limit, recovering stuck artics in the snow and everything else I've thrown at it and first suspension fault comes after two weeks of daily immersion. I'll take that Thumbs Up

Bad news - new compressor required

Good news - fitted it this afternoon

Bad news - now the clattering from the compressor has stopped, I can hear the PAS pump bearing screaming. Big Cry

Back under the car with the spanners tomorrow I'm afraid. Sad

£340 for the compressor kit, plus a couple of hours clearing fault codes, swapping out the relay and lying under the car stripping the old one, fitting the new one and thanking Brewstop for the goggles he gave me, as they saved me from an eyeful of Censored more than once.

PAS may just be the UJ stiffening up, as it's noisiest on the pump in the first quarter turn. If it's the pump it's not a cheap or easy job - easiest done by taking out the battery tray and the NS EGR, but as the 105,000 service is due soon it may make sense to just bend over and get it all done next week or so and write off the money I had out aside towards the new chassis on the Series 3 Sad
