Whilst cleaning today, I notice the instrument cluster was loose. It is the plastic that has cracked on the instrument cluster and the housing that it attaches to. It seems to be extremely brittle and does not want to glue back together. I tried super glue, and araldite rapid, but the join is weak.
Anyone got any idea of a glue that works, or it is best to replace the plastic instrument surround and the plastic box it screws into? looks like a fiddly job. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV 1966 S2a 109 aka Betsy 1968 S2a 88 aka Bob 2014 Jaaaag F Type 3.0 Supercharged. |

That's great, thanks I still need a new instrument panel surround, as that too is cracked. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

I made my own and it is a good improvement. As for the instrument cluster surround you will unfortunately need to buy another. Being a TD5 you will be lucky to find another one cheaply though as everyone wants them to upgrade their older ones!

Agree with that. (but you'll have to clear all traces of the other adhesives you've tried.) A good weld/adhesive is MEK (Methyl Ethyl Keetone) which is the liquid base for styrene cement. |
