Ok, So I recently got a tax rebate. I've got two choices... stick in the bank, or spend it. Then two choices of where to spend it - somewhere sensible, or on my Land rover.
No really no choice at all 
I want to fit a heated windscreen and heated seats, want to do the work myself to keep costs low (I was a mechanic for a while so I'm competent, if clumsy). Does anyone have any advice on keeping the installation as original looking as possible? I want to use original switches to fill some of the blanks in my dash if no other reason! |

I had chip in the screen so phoned up my windscreen cover, they asked if heated or not and so naturally i said heated and they fitted a heated screen in for £50

I've had a look at both those posts mentioned here, while I don't doubt the quality of the Mobile Centre kit, it does seem a little expensive for what's there. Also, I should've mentioned, I'm looking at aftermarket seat heaters to fit at the same time as I retrim the interior

Even the pros break them, that's why I suggested getting someone to supply/fit - that way if they break it they pay for it! It's an easy enough job to do with a bit of string and some lubricant, it's just the risk of busting it one has to take into account  |

Got my wiring kit from mobilecentre, does the job perfectly. Got an auto electrician to connect it up though as I havent got a clue. Then fitted a mud stuff console with carling switches.

Just as an FYI it may look a little expensive for what is there but if you buy all the electrical parts from VWP it comes to a few pence short of £50 + VAT, then you have the genuine switch and connector at £15 so total parts cost to buy in would be at least £65 + VAT
The crimp tool to do the terminals in the LR switch is £400 + VAT 
Once you get into what actually goes into a kit it is quite suprising |

http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopi...windscreen I've personally replaced a number of Defender screens and while the job is far from difficult and can be carried out by someone without experience it's easier with two people, it's even easier to slip an experienced fitter a bit of beer money to do the job for you. If you are going it alone having the screen out gives you a good opportunity to deal with any corrosion found under the screen rubber. Steve.
