27th will be an early start. I thought the 30th was falling a bit flat. Didn't seem much interest or enthusiasm. Perhaps I've just read it wrong???

If there's room on the list any chance I'll be able to tag along?
Will Pm BPman now. Strong people are harder to kill and generally more useful! |

I've just got in from an afternoon/evening laning up there.
As most mil activity has scaled down now for xmas, it was totally deserted. felt great to "have" the whole 98000 acres to myself nice and muddy in places, plenty of puddles too. A few of the byways (honeydown bottom as one) now have A4 notices at each end from Wilts CC stating that there is an application to have them closed/downgraded... part of the project Obique. Shame as they are nice RoW's, but i'm not sure when they actually close... I'll make some enquiries. looking forward to next weekend. |

Could you let me know what you find about Honeydown Bottom? It's one of my favourite parts of he Plain (not just because of the Stollies on the hillside!) My understanding is the military are saying its too hard to check for debris after firing on the Larkhill ranges. Fair enough but a shame if it does go |

Yes, Honeydown IS closing. shame, as like you say, it is a nice one.
However, it looks like it's the main long byway (the one with the "gap" in the middle of it, which runs from bombard OP across to the QuinetiQ/old MoD buildings), so the byway that is a short one and brings you out in front of the OP where you can see all the old hard targets is still going to be there. As are the ones that go right across the ranges toward Lavington. |

Don't know.. just been looking at the official government site for it and there is no mention of dates, apart from the last download on that page, which is what is on the A4 signs at the end of the byways... but these only inform you of the cut off date to object to any changes.
I'll fling Chris an email and see if he knows. |
