Rear windows dropping down!
Having just found the thread on 'door unlocks, re locks' and sorted that, the wife mentions that one of the rear windows drops down itself when we are driving.

Thought they'd have sorted that little one but alas no!

Did a search for a thread but no joy - anyone a fix for this 25yr old issue!

Reposition the winders so that gravity keeps them in the down position or, failing that, bungee cord to the pull handle seems to be the preferred option. It's not very high tech, but then sometimes things don't need to be. Darren

I noticed on mine the handle sits half way up on the cycle- so the weight of the handle is also helping the fact that the window wants to go down.

I have heard of people changing the handle around..... or taking some bungee and having it so it streches through the door handle around the winder knob.

I am sure someone will come along with another 'proper' technique of adjusting it though.

remove the handle as Glyn said and turn it around so the heavy part is at the bottom Thumbs Up Thumbs Up CSK Automotive

After facing the handle down, maybe it might be possible to add a weight (perhaps like a stick on wheel balance weight?) to the handle ?

The winder handles have a "U" shaped spring clip holding them on. If you press the panel towards the door you can just about see what needs to be done to remove them.

On my vehicle, the windows dropped irrespecitve of the handle position, so in the end I put a loop of bungee cord through the door pull handle so that it hooks round the knob of the winder to hold it shut. It was still necessay to position the winders for optimum angle of bungee pull however. It can also of course hold the window partially open if so desired in summer. It's rubbish really having to do this on a £30k vehicle, but hey, it's a Landrover!

It was always a concern of mine that if the windows vibrate open as they did, it would be possible for someone (with a rubber glove, rubber sucker, or similar) to push them down from the outside. In practice it doesn't seem quite that easy however.

That's been on the "to do" list for about the last three years. It hasn't even made top of the list yet!
