Seized Handbrake
Trying to get the Pikey Wagon (a Transit - Big Blacks temporary replacement) ready after being laid up for three weeks, but unfortunately it's been parked on a slope with the handbrake on, so after putting some air in the tyres and making sure it'll start it wont budge as the nearside rear brake seems to be seized. I've tried shunting it forward and back a couple of times but it wont budge - not sure if I should be more 'violent' with it though, lots of revs and dump the clutch?

Any other ideas of getting it free'd? I don't want to start jacking it up and stripping the brake down as it's on a slope....

We get this regularly at work on vehicles left parked for ages with the handbrake on,if you can see the drum through the wheel stick a socket set extension bar through the wheel on to the drum and give a sharp whack with a hammer, repeat this at several parts of the drum this nearly always works. If you can,t see the drum through the wheel take it off and hit the drum with a hammer directly (after chocking the wheels as you are parked on a slope). 2005 Td5 90 XS
