I realise this is slightly or maybe balancing:
A several months ago, a young (well, younger than me) family moved in across the road with their 15 year-old boy. He has Down's and made a lot of noise whilst they were moving in (still does) - actually worried me a bit. I think I felt "sorry for them". Idiot me. Over Summer, I have got to know him a lot better and I can honestly say he is one of the friendliest, happiest, thoughtful young men I have met. Sure he's a handful, but he's so bloody strong if I was in a fight, I would definitely want him on my side I think what really made me think was when I found out that he was from the father's first marriage (wife couldn't cope) and the very attractive younger blond woman had taken the role of his (and his younger sister's) "new mother". Respect - they make a great family. I think what I'm trying to say is that I can find the poster funny and respect the young man at the same time. Guess I'm just f*cked up... Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

I find the text surrounding the photo in Glyn's post offensive and for me it is inappropriate.
However it would be wrong to remove it in a debate surrounding free speech ( even on an open forum). |

If people are finding that image offensive then they probably shouldn't look at the rest of the internet!
Free speech works both ways. |

Not being able to keep my gob shut:
1) Fortunately we seem to have a very attentive and reasonable administrator of this forum - Martin (henceforth referred to as "God") 2) If someone considers something so heinous that they believe it must be removed, they simply have to click the triangle and ask "God" to do something about it. Like prayer, it might not always be answered. 3) If not, no one obliges them to continue to stare at the offending object. 4) Although this is an open forum, unless an "outsider" was to do a search combining the words "retarded", "defender" and "offensive", I doubt they would find the current bone of contention (in the first Google results, at least). I think if I was really upset about something, I would PM the poster, explain my pain and politely ask them to remove it, not because they were wrong, but simply out of kindness. I honestly believe Defender owners are probably the most considerate (if outspoken) vehicle owners in the world - test this out... Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

I clicked the link to report it, but someone has already done that and it seems you cant do it twice... I understand the point that was trying to be made, but the picture and subject used to make the point was sadly way off the mark. Just my opinion. cheers simon |

Sorry! But as a low posting newbie on here I have to support 'the boys' view on the picture and it's text content!
I have both a niece and a great nephew with learning difficulties, yes they have names for what they have, and as I too have have the right to freedom of speech. .... I find the picture offensive, sick and inappropriate. Neil. |

Zedefender.
As you say it gave you a laugh and I know I am not in the gang here which is why I am virtually by myself here but it say so much that the photo is still here! I know my time on this forum is now very limited because I have dared to speak out but trust me I don't regret it. I stand by my complaint even if every other member says it is ok to post this type of stuff. |

Not saying I agree or disagree with the picture but I will ask ALL of those that object if they've ever told a poor taste joke, irrespective of the subject?
Just asking that's all and if you haven't (ever) then fair enough..... |
