I'd towed a few trailers but never a caravan until we got a 6 berth earlier this year.
The 110 is a brilliant tow vehicle, no problem even on country lanes Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge[/quote] John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

Answering Castillo..
My wheels are Terrafirma, Evo Corse's. Mick (post above) are Blindo's... I honestly can't remember what tyres mine are...I'd go look but it's chucking it down out there |

My wife did the Caravan Club training course last year and found it to be very good. She later towed our large twin axle 6 berth with her Disco II without any problems. She doesn't particularly want to do it all of the time, but now feels confident to step in if I were ill, for example. As for towing a large van with a 110, it's really not a big issue. Make sure the steering lock is optimised for the best manoeuverability, but otherwise don't worry. I recomend to do a course or a lot of practice before start to use it.
In our case we bougth our folding camper (12') and sent it to repair. Finally, we receive it just 2 days ahead of a loooong trip. Both of us (my wife and I), without too much experience, we suffered a lot when we try to going in reverse. Here it is Click image to enlarge Traveling with it almost 10,000 km some in very bad roads. That's a Degraff R1200-4, designed to be towed by people without a B+E licence but as usual that farcical law fails. Without a B+E your allowed to tow it behind a ford focus but put it behind a a 90ht with a kerb weight of 2.4 tonnes and it's illegal but obviously safer... I had ours replated to 1100kg. It's a great trailer. Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |
