Is there any info on how many are driven away vs. how many are towed/lifted etc.?

Nothing concrete. Many of the victims report they didn't hear a thing which suggests that the vehicle is at least not started in close proximity to the property... My money is on them being quietly pushed away some distance where they are then driven or towed away. I'm not convinced that many are actually lifted but... then again, who knows
I think the answer is you can't completely.... just try to slow them down, make it difficult/noisy/risky etc. Agree with K9F & Killer, another vehicle in the way is a good deterrent. If no other vehicle available and if funds permit, maybe replace the existing alarm with a more proactive alarm system with proximity 'chirps' or some kind of tremble/shock trigger. Some trackers have this tremble/shock concept too I believe. In terms of it being pushed, towed away.... if no other car to block the LR in then park nose in with the nose as close to a wall/shed/fence etc as you can possibly get (as in don't leave them any room around the front). Put the steering on full lock before engaging the steering lock and perhaps fit a steering wheel lock. Tdi&Td5 owners can also consider the X-Gear lock which will lock the truck in high 3rd or 5th. This combined with a pedal lock of choice will make give them another set of hurdles to overcome before they can consider to push/tow away... I have heard of instances where a truck is blocked in. The thieves break into the house, swipe both sets of keys and move the other car quietly out of the way first! [Edit : Sorry Killer... missed your bit about alarms/parking awkwardly...... guess I was just looking at the gun!] Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless. |

Good idea - when we move, I'll choose the house according to "Location, Location, Tree"

What's a 'garge?' Would have to totally dismantle and subsequently rebuild my 'garge' to get it to fit! Not many standard house garges accommodate a Def'ner.
