Raspberry PI is a bit of a problem for me. We have a company called Raspberry Software that was started well before the conception of Raspberry PI, but we get an ever increasing number of enquires for the Raspberry PI!

You should start stocking it and generate PI sales and profits from the free advertising you are getting lol. I was in a simlar postion a few years ago where a company called "Bell Auto Electrics" shut down who used to sell and recon starter motors and alternators, I was getting calls nearly every day. from it I sold well over 500 pcs for various vehicles in under 6 months untill the calls slowwed down. good profit for no advertising cost at all Pete |

Whilst I haven't had chance to get my hands on one yet, a few of the engineers at work have, and really like them. All sorts of software available, and great for hacking around with. For £25 you really can't go too far wrong - if nothing else it's brought the cost of computing down another chunk. The only thing with it is that it was initially conceived as a way of getting kids interested in computing and programming - they'll have to find a way of getting them off their tinkering fathers first...
Some quite interesting potential automotive applications (with the right software) for something at that price too - plug in a USB OBDII cable and make it a datalogger, GPS and 3G dongle for a tracker perhaps? All in all, a really interesting piece of hobbyist kit |
