REG:
Listen. If you really wanted to join the P.F.J., you'd have to really hate the Romans.
BRIAN:
I do!
REG:
Oh, yeah? How much?
BRIAN:
A lot!
REG:
Right. You're in. Listen. The only people we hate more than the Romans are the :censored: Judean People's Front.

This has been a long time coming!

I don't think there is any need for anybody to try and calm this thread down, people should get things off there chest if something is bothering them.
In this world of over the top political correctness, a few more true opinions from people may go a little way to helping bring world back into line.
The reason I say this is that, I am very out spoken and will always say what is on my mind and when I have stated my thoughts to some people I know, they have actually said thank you for bringing that to my attention I didn't realise.

One thing I will put into the mix and I don't, in anyway wish for this to come across in an aggressive manner or mean it to be carried out in an aggressive manner, but it is one thing, certain people being very outspoken and full of quite frankly, uneducated (apart from what they have read on another forum or copied and pasted from a google search and passed off as if it's come out of there head) bad advise and factually incorrect information or to insinuate things about other people, but then when they have the chance to state their opinion to the persons face ie at a show for eg, they say nothing, this to me really does show a persons true colours.
I thinks the words keyboard warrior spring to mind!

A good forum works both ways, but certain people often come across with a one way attitude.

The next and final point I will make is that, some people ( ie me) are good with Maths and numbers, but when it comes to putting things into words and typing it, I more often than not make a right old balls up, the true tone I was trying to express went out the window the second I clicked submit. This is why when I am asked a question or want to answer a fellow members question I often just offer my phone number to the member, just to try and stop any confusion.

Anyway rant over,

I am not one for the stereotypical british attitude of constantly apologising but in this case I do apologise for my terrible grammar and probably a whole host of spelling mistakes.

( a quick note @ GoBeyond.... yes you were jumped on, you backed off, everyone now loves ya Bow down )

If it wasn't for people like Brendan, I would have an expensive awning totally scrapped right now, because of his existence on here, my awning will soon be repaired.
I have spent a lot of money with Brendan, and have a lot of respect for him, because first and foremost he is HELPFUL, as a salesman he is not pushy, won't sell you crap and has a lot of time for people, there's a lot to be said about that right there.
As for 'expensive items' I've seen an Entreq snow cowl, it is a fantastically engineered bit of kit, you can see the workmanship in the folds, finishing off etc. I'm sure all Entreq gear is the same....beautiful.
Do I have any Entreq on my 90? NO, I can love the product, but choose not to buy. I also don't have the plastic cheap version of a snow cowl.
If it snows enough to cover the air vent, I'll wipe it with my sleeve (same one for my nose).

MobileCentre sells some great kit and without doubt, gives good service.
Have I used Tim? NO
But if I do need something, or know if anybody wants anything he may sell, I shall promote him. I only know that through the forum.
I also like LRS, again, another great guy, as well as MUD, I like them because they like stuff I do.
So the forum works, we benefit from the sponsors as much as they from us, this is an open forum, the idea is people say what they like. So if someone disagrees with something, you have to take the flack.

I was once a sponsor, it is not cheap, nor really expensive, but if you look after the customers, they will look after you.
Land Rovers are about the individuality and the personality of the owner. We are all different, so every now and again, there will be a clash.
It's happened before, it will happen again.
Group hug? Laughing
Rock on....

@Sense of Adventure - agree with you entirely about keyboard warriors! And not just on this forum, on every type of internet-based social interaction. Also, your comment about establishing 'tone of voice' in an email or other written communication is very true, especially if you wrote it in a hurry. Spelling and grammar were both spot on by the way! Razz

As an aside - you are literally just down the road from me! I was at school in Pickering a few years ago. Still over that way fairly regularly - work in Malton and at uni in Hull, so here there and everywhere. Nice to know of another local member! Thumbs Up 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

Freedom of Speech works both ways - each side has a voice!!

I have personally never noticed site sponsors pushing their goods in an aggressive manner, many are in fact very helpful in offering advise and are generous with their time on the forum. In addition I have the option of who I buy from and where I spend my money if I was to fall out with a sponsor I presumerably wouldn't buy their goods/ services.

Having watched this forum for several years now there appears to be a members life cycle:

- initial enthusiasm
- knowledge quest
- lots of posts/ look at me.....
- elder statesman/ hogs the limelight/ tight circle of friends
- grumpy old Censored / 'there's a thousand post on this' 'can't you use the search button'
- lost interest as I'm not top dog anymore
- passive user/ keep up with old mates occasionally
- (finds other interests)
- Still has an interest in the vehicle inc modification but cant be assed to post anymore (Andrew S)
