I always find it hard work taking anything back to Halfrauds.... Battery failed on my old TD5 after 8 months... Halfrauds Battery, with Halfrauds written all over it, without receipt but I produced a bank statement with the purchase on there.

...refused to give me a refund or a new battery despite testing it in front of me and confirming it was dead.

Reason; "No Receipt ...you could of bought it elsewhere"...

Yes, I did.. another Censored Halfrauds store !!!

I just left the battery there on the floor and created the mother of all scenes - didn't get me a new battery but I felt better. Cheers,

That's weird. I've taken a broken Halfords Pro ratchet back into my local store many years after purchase with no receipt and they gave me a brand new one no quibbles.

I avoid Halfords myself completely unless it's something mundane like a sponge or something like that. Rather use E-bay than there the quality isn't to great either. If you want Kenwood equipment then I'd recommend Just Kenwood (Or Car Audio Direct although a more limited range)

I really like the KDC-BT92SD but it doesn't have DAB which I rather fancy. I tend to listen to the radio more than anything - any recommendations? Cheers,

UPDATE.

Decided to take it apart on Sunday and have a look myself. After tightening all the screws that I could see around/in the CD drive mechanism and blowing it all out with some air, it works perfectly now. Had it way above the limit it did skip at and pleased to say The Cult are no longer stuttering Thumbs Up Cheers,

Did you find some loose screws in there then? You can probably blame the Defender for that rattling it to death. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Not so much loose, just needed nipping up. It got me thinking when I looked inside one.....how much does it cost to actually produce one of these ... I reckon £30 max. One circuit board/drive mechanism case.. Cheers,

There is the software side though that you have to remember as well such as when Apple updates iPods and other items. Kenwood (and other brands no doubt) will often release a firmware update so you can continue to use it. Plus paying for the brand of course. All these things cost extra money to develop. Plus side is unlike Sat Navs any updates are free and not paid or subscription so this is all included in the original purchase price. All in all not bad IMHO.

Yes, can appreciate that. I was thinking of the actual hardware really.

Still, glad I fixed mine for a big fat zero cost Smile Cheers,
