Don't go for OEM - hugely expensive.
Most of the aftermarket stuff is pretty good. If you want serious diff protection, don't get the clamp on circular ones but go for something more heavy duty. There was a post recently on steering guards with a few recommendations. Do a quick search and you'll turn it up. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

i run Southdown guards on all of mine, no problems, well made and it doesnt come off or bend at the first contact!

I've got the Devon fuel cooler guard - I'd never had a problem either, but it's cheap and light enough that it seemed like an excellent investment to me just incase. Simple to fit too. Peter
