Underbody protection
Any tips/ advice please on the best underbody protection for my Defender 90 '09? I'm looking for steering guard/ diff and probably rear axle as well? I'm aware of companies like Rebel etc. - what is general view in terms of quality/ value etc or should I stick with LR official parts? I'm off on a 2-day off road trip in t he future (in UK) and have been recommended to get this fitted first.

Thanks in advance.

Don't go for OEM - hugely expensive.

Most of the aftermarket stuff is pretty good. If you want serious diff protection, don't get the clamp on circular ones but go for something more heavy duty.

There was a post recently on steering guards with a few recommendations. Do a quick search and you'll turn it up. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

i run Southdown guards on all of mine, no problems, well made and it doesnt come off or bend at the first contact!

Simon/Liz (D4x4) are certainly worth a call too. Cheers

I've got the Devon fuel cooler guard - I'd never had a problem either, but it's cheap and light enough that it seemed like an excellent investment to me just incase. Simple to fit too. Thumbs Up Peter
