Are most of problem solved now?
Hi, I am thinking of buying a new Defender. But I am bit worried after reading about all seriously trouble with them.
Hopefully most of this is sorted out on the latest model. And I am most worried about engine and gearbox.

Have any experience or knowledge on when they improved the Defender from fault?

The only problems my 2008 SVX has had thus far that is LR caused are the clutch, fixed by modified kit and engine rattle/knock when cold fixed by tune/patch. I belt crap out of my vehicle in the bush and thus far it has not broken. All cars have faults, Defenders are rough as guts, even theSVX is built like Censored , but on the beach or in the dirt no tojo or Censored can compare

Picked up my new Def 90 XS in March - to date I've had one minor problem when a clip worked loose and leaked out my power-steering fluid. Land Rover Assist were with me within one hour, although within 10 minutes of reporting it they already had a Range Rover Sport on standby as a loan car in case mine had to go to the dealer for work. The guy from LR Assist arrived, could not have been a nicer bloke, and had it all fixed in 20 mins. Job done.

I could have been rather pee'd off - instead I was just left very impressed by the way they handled it all. Then again, I am a bit simple... Razz

good rid of my problematic 2008 90 and got a June 2009 90. Ive done 10 000 problem free kilometers so far. The difference is like chalk and cheese. Thumbs Up Land Rover's don't leak oil, they simply mark their territory!

15.000 km in 6 months. Not a single problem. A true delight. Boldly going nowhere
