2010 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 HT Stornoway Grey
First four guard...
Got this steering guard, came with 3 long bolts, (2010 90)

Passenger side bracket has gone on with no problems, drivers side... (Forgive me not knowing the technical terms) at the rear of the bracket, part of the suspension / steering passes through the chassis too, the original bolt is too short to pass all the way through and there isn't a new replacement for it...

Any ideas? Can email pics, pm me your email address, rather annoying as the cars currently up on the ramp this is the last thing to be fitted...

Lashing brackets are on the front bolts so that should not be an issue.

I think the bolt is the rear one that holds one of the steering components to the chassis and is a pig to undo without a breaker bar.

I have fitted a few guards from different manufacturers and have never seen a replacement for this bolt.

Put the nut back on the offending bolt and tighten it back up. Then see how much of the bolt thread protrudes from the nut. There should be plenty of free thread to allow the bracket to be fitted.

Just had a look on the 90 and 110 and even with a the guards on there is still a good 3 or 4 mm of thread protruding from the nut.

Sounds like LR were a bolt short of a full set Shocked

Looks like a trip to your local bolt supplier for a longer one.

Just to check, you have wound the bolt all the way in towards the chassis before fitting the plate/nut ?
It is a really tight fit and the bolt needs to be wound all the way in before fitting anything to it.

Installed exactly the same a few weeks ago and went straight on using the original rear bolt. Sounds like your bolt has been changed or as Bob says LR have short changed you on the size of bolt. 2007 TD5 90 Hard Top

I am not 100% sure but I think this is the correct bolt - FC112326.

If you can the best thing would be to remove the existing bolt and go to your local fastener shop and get them to supply you one of the same spec but half an inch longer.

Bummer if you wanted to get the job done tonight.

Yup will have to take the other side off, need the car tomorrow... Shame but I'm not finished wiring the light forces in anyway so something for tomorrow....

I fitted my new D44 guard last week and its a shame you live that far as I have 3 spare bolts the size you need :/

Put the same guard on about a month ago, and it went on fine using the existing drivers side bolt and nut! Sounds like you may not have an original spec bolt on the drivers side i.e. your is too short. Don't think it would be a problem to source a longer bolt. 90 XS

yeah, i got the bolt in a4 stainless today and fitted it all up..
