upgrading the alarm
hi

does anyone know of any differences in the my13 compared to the my12 alarm system as I cannot find any info about it. Or can it be upgraded / improved in anyway .

it has internal sensors / door contacts / looks like coded/chiped keys which I think improves the immobilisation.

I believe that there is a procedure to follow to prevent this, which is in the handbook. Darren

Those features are all present in the (very basic) Td5 alarm system, so I doubt they're special to the 13MY Tdci system.

All the Defender security systems are inherently inadequate, the vehicle is just too easily dismantle-able for them to be that effective!

Don't the latest ones now have the battery backed sounder as standard, meaning that the alarm stays active with the vehicle battery disconnected?

Yes, I believe that this is Landrover's "fix" to the problem of the cut battery cable on earlier (non-BBS) vehicles.
