It is perfectly possible that the seller used the BAS interface on a Td5, if it was a post-2002 one. The pre-2002 Td5 ecus were the chip ones, MSB pre-fix. The post-2002 Td5s are the NNN ones and then CAN be remapped with the BAS product (it says so on their website). We chose to go with the NNN ecu on my rebuild for this reason Our blog - http://landytravels.com/ Yorkshire Off Road Club - http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net |

tbh the one thing they have not written is the fact that after paying said amount for the box, to have it mapped to your vehicle will then cost another £100 from pete ?
and they dont actually say what vehicle its programed to at the moment 2015 2.2 tdci hardtop xs 3.2 conversion DONE 238bhp and 707nm torque and thats just the start ;-P hybrid turbo in build -done ready to fit ashcroft atb in transfer box 6 speed auto in build |

Chris, I learnt long ago never to get into any argument with the other sex mate they don't think the same As you can see the way the thread is going All i was saying was that you don't get these coming up on the bay for the obvious reasons....and i'm sure one of the Guys on here had one stolen out their truck not so long ago ? If i ever was getting shut of mine i would get in touch with the supplier i got it off,as it will only work on my truck.it is programmed only for my truck. NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE ANYWAY Last edited by fekete on 29th Oct 2012 10:30am. Edited 1 time in total |

Not in the least bit sexist there at all
I read most of Pam's posts (not as a stalker you understand) and always find them well informed and knowledgable. I have to be honest, I'm with her, just because one box went missing doesn't mean this is the one, especially (if my memory serves me right) it was stolen in Germany. I think the guy is misleading and probably knows the box is pretty worthless as it stands, but as they say, buyer beware ! |

I'm with Karlos on this one....Highlighting a potentially 'suspicious posting' may well prevent someone splashing out for an item that will not deliver on the buyer's expectations....Also it may give the victim of the theft an avenue to explore by bringing it into the public domain on a Defender specific forum....
Should the buyer be a member on here it may well highlight for him/her a few drawbacks....The most important being from 'someone in the know'.....
I personally would be put off straight away! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

It's only the Remap that is VIN specific, the tuning box can be reused ....
And in fairness, I don't think he has said that it has a Remap that can be used on it. |

Maybe not but the advertisement states... Used: An item that has been previously used. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended. That is clearly NOT true as it stands, (it is open to interpretation of course) .... but not in my book anyway!!!! Be interesting to hear if Pope gets an answer to the query he asked of the seller.... If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Don't get me wrong, as I said above, I think he knows exactly what he is selling and how it does (or more importantly, doesn't) work, however, I doubt it's stolen and he hasn't stated that it has a remap on it, you are right though to high light the possible downside to buying it

I doubt it's stolen too unless the guy's a 'complete biff' as they are unique and very traceable I would imagine. I can just envisage some poor sole buying it and finding out 'It doesn't actually do what is says on the tin!'
Or rather in this case 'It doesn't actually do what it didn't say on the tin!' (Hope that makes sense!) No harm done either way by highlighting it!
