Hello all, been a keen reader on the site for some time but didn’t want to comment on Defenders until I was actually using one.
2005 TD5, rebuilt to keep, cat D write off in mid 2008 “light roll over” and had been stored until I bought it in 2010. Professionally rebuilt but as a Saturday fill in job, hence over two years to get it finished! It’s only been on the road for three and a half years and done less than 28,000 miles. Original chassis galvanised, bulkhead zinc plated, was truck cab so body cappings were galvanised already, all the bits and pieces, inner mud shields, suspension turrets etc galvanised then waxoyl everywhere else. Rear bulkhead removed, Mud seat rails and fitted with nearly new Puma seats. Very pleased with the way it drives. Now that I’ve got this on the road the rebuild of my Series 111 may also take longer to get finished! I’m sure to be along with plenty of questions as to modifications and extras over the coming months. Bulkhead removal bar was from MUD UK, good quality with clear instructions. I'm tall so removing the bulkhead and fitting the seat rails - also from MUD makes the driving position much better. Series 3 88" Pick Up. Now gone.

Hi Chauch,
Photo of bulkhead removal bar fitted, not hard to do. Instructions can be downloaded from the MUD UK website. To take advantage of the extra room you do need to fit the seat rails which lift the seat runner and allow the seat to be mounted further back. The possible downside is sitting further back relative to the door window but I have not found this to be an issue when driving, and is it’s never going to be possible to convert to truck cab. Cheers, Bob. [/img] Click image to enlarge Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Series 3 88" Pick Up. Now gone.
