I believe they are just Philips bulb replacements to the standard bulb.

Their website is crap but here are links for Philips UK:
http://www.philips.co.uk/c/car-lamps/x-tre...2xvb1/prd/ http://www.philips.co.uk/c/car-lamps/d2r-85-v-35-w-85126s1/prd/ By Xenon upgrade, I assume you are referring to the (expensive) HID upgrades offered by a lot of manufacturers now - they are not direct replacements for "normal" bulbs - they need 85 volts and the technology to go with it, including self-levelling because they're so ![]() A lot of people (including me) have got vast improvements by using Philips Xtreme, Osram Nightbreaker etc. "normal hotwire" Xenon bulbs with clear (e.g. Wipac Crystal) headlamps. I think much of the confusion is because "normal" bulbs can also contain Xenon (as well as other halogens like Krypton) but they run using the standard lighting system. Realistically, they can get to about 50-80% brighter than cheaper versions. If you're seriously thinking of investing some cash in decent lighting, consider LEDs (such as JW Speakers) instead of HIDs. There are lots of threads on here and Tim at mobilecentre (that's his username here) is the main European importer. They are made in the US (not China) and have a 4 year warranty... which probably explains the downside, cost ![]() Just found the thread: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic15433.html and a comparison: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&a...mp;cad=rja Hope that helps, Matt p.s. sorry if that's a load of pointless information but there's not much to do in a hospital bed at 4 am ![]() But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

So a main dealer will charge £141 for a couple of bulbs you can get off eBay and call it an "upgrade"
![]() Will they charge you the same again when they blow? Buy them yourself and get a free keyring: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ring-Ultima-120-...43abff669f ![]() But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Try somewhere like Tim @ the Mobilcentre or www.powerbulbs.com and go for some Osram or Philips lamps (stay away from Ring or you'll be replacing them in three months).
