Suspension lift. Light version
Hi
I am considering a suspension lift. Essentially for looks (110 Crew Cab).
Can you recommend a kit?
I don't want to have to change anything to the transmission, so it would have to be a light version, not a hardcore one. I do not carry heavy loads and I don't like the fact that my Defender is lower in the front than in the rear. I would like to have it level.
Thanks.

PS: please don't get technical on me, I know very little. It will be installed by my local mechanic. Do I need to change only the springs or the shocks as well?

I have ome on the front about 40-50mm lift with no problems, and no changes to the transmission

I have the 751 fitted to mine but i do have a heavy winch and bumper, if you don`t have any extra weight on the front you could use the 761`s these will give you a 50mm lift.

I was actually just looking at that. It looks like 761 in F and 755 in the back.
Should I use trim packers to make it level?
No change necessary to the shocks?

I got OME all around. 751 F and 755 R. But, pay attention. I got 1" in the back and not evern closer to 2" as OME advertise.

OME USA acknowledge their specs are outdated so they will pay for the missing inch in the back. I also doubt 761 will give you any lift.

Why donīt you try with Gwyn Lewis spring spacer? They are very good and you can choose for 1 or 2".

Thanks for that. I was actually looking at spacers with not much luck. This helps a lot. Thumbs Up

This might be an easier and cheaper solution for what I want to do.
One inch would be fine for me.

I'm thinking either:
- one inch front only
- or 2 inches front, one inch rear
so that it sits level.

You don't mention if you've got a winch or anything fitted, but i tried some 110 HD front springs on my old 110 (factory HD;s, which are just 90 standard rears) and that lifted it a good inch, maybe slightly more.

however it made the steering very vague.

Personally i prefer the "high" back end.

I did a 2" OME lift to my 110 and it caused all sorts of drive shaft and vibration issues. I removed the springs to remedy this but due to the weight of the bar and winch the front went down considerably. I have found that the standard LR 130 springs lift the front to an almost verticle with the rear.

I fitted a set of Brit Part "Standard Height" HD springs to my last 90, along with their Super Gaz shocks. It made it sit 1" higher than before. Mind you this could have been purely because the old springs were past their best. Very Happy The good thing was that the ride was still quite compliant and not as stiff as I expected.

I know a lot of people knock the quality of Brit Part gear but I was more than happy with their performance and quality.

The best part was no effect on steering or propshafts and I didn't have to inform my insurance company as it was not a suspension lift, merely replacement parts. MAD COW
