Sorry guys, here everyday, but my password defaulted and i was just too lazy to ask for the new password reset gizmo...was just reading the threads and taking it all in
anyhow...yeah i'm often using the rear quarters for shelter instead of the RTT. Sometimes it's just easier for my needs, and seems really quite cozy. This winter season, i'm about to invest in some natty thermal window screens. (AutoMarineImprovements). They have some natty tech features and have a more pleasant cloth inside face rather than the stark mirror finish of my current screens. But not cheap.  Click image to enlarge |

Saw some of the guys at the AdventureOverland show
... plus plently of window shopping 
anyone have any thoughts on that show? ... the DJ at the disco tent springs to my mind

Not a USW but a CSW, I have built a sleeping platform into mine, I have made a rear storage unit and then a shelf the shelf extends the bed over the rear seats.

Also a CSW here. I made a storage system (drawer with boxes) and a sleeping platform with a removable front section. When needed I remove the second row bench and attach the front platform extension.

That's the plan, I have only had one weekend in it so far, but plan to sleep in it when we go to Norway in February. Although I have used the storage and shelf in anger and that works really well. Jason. |

While its a nice idea, unless you have an airtop heater or similar to keep you warm during the night i would advise against sleeping in a vehicle overnight in Norway during february as it will be colder than using a tent. Just something to consider.

Hi Mark, Thanks for the advice, I have already considered that and think I am covered. I have spent the last few months insulating every surface on the truck that insulation will stick to, double in some places such as the roof. in addition to this I have made a full set of window blinds to help retain the heat. In addition to this I have a Eberspacher D2 air heater (soon to be installed) and an truckers cot heater (electric blanket) from Canada which is designed to heat truck cots in Canadian winters so will provide drying/warmth for the sleeping bags, Both our bags are comfort rated to -25 with an extreme rating or -40. To cope with the extra battery load I have installed a 3rd 120AH in the rear storage system to run the D2 and the blanket whilst the Eberspacher in the engine is run off my second battery which also runs my winch and Aux fuse box. As well as the normal alternator charging I have installed two C-tec charges into the system that can be connected to the mains via a 240v hook-up point in my front wing air intake blank. I will also be taking a small 240v fan heater that will provide truck heating should we stop at a truck stop and get 240v hook up. Jason. |

Didn't mean to teach you to suck eggs, just wanted to make sure you were well prepared.
I am also heading up to the frozen north in January, our preps seem very alike, except i'll be in a 90 and in a tent with heater. -40 comfort rated bags with -40 sleeping mats underneath them and reindeer skins as well. Should be toasty! Let me know how the trip goes, should be fun! Regards, Mark |
