when I sold mine the dealer had problems with it (only happened to me once) when it was driven quickly (65+mph) it went into a kind of limp mode (turn on/off and it reset).
anyway to cut along story short my dealer said there was no problems.....turns out another dealer ended up getting land rover involved and it turned out there was silicone somewhere there shouldn't have been (on the ecu connections I presume?) ! anyway it got sorted I understand. not much help I'm sure but its at least another avenue to consider. |

Interesting... silicon used to install Mantec snorkel when manufacturer supplied a foam washer for attachment to air intake on side of vehicle. Thanks. Will pass onto dealer. PS swapping out the puma intercooler for a TD5 (bigger) intercooler had no effect on power loss... no surprise there then!

My 2007 had the same problem, big loss of power at about 76mph. When towing on busy motorways it is no fun. Throttling up/down, changing gear etc would have no effect until the speed was down to 30mph then it carried on as if nothing was wrong. It only happened when under heavy load, usually towing uphill in hot weather.
The cause was never found & I chopped the vehicle in for a new 2009. |

Still getting nowehere. Local dealer must now replace the vehicle which they don't want to do as ours is expedition kitted. They are now advising that I take the issue up with Land Rover Customer Service SA. Will see how I get on with them, otherwsie legal route to be taken. Wwe will keep you posted.
Kind regards Mr Bond |

I would insist that your dealer contacts LR about it.... after all, you bought the vehicle from them, not from customer services. Let them do the leg work, not fob it off on you! |

Hi,
Was just reading your thread, and wondered whether when you mentioned silicon in the wrong place you perhaps meant poisoning the lambda sensor(s)? I understand modern diesels have progressed significantly and are now using closed loop control with feedback of exhaust oxygen concentration using an exhaust oxygen sensor - called a lambda sensor - as per petrol engines with catalytic converters. If there is too much silicone in the diesel fuel - used as an antifoam additive - because the refinery has mucked up, then I understand you are at risk of poisoning the lambda sensor. ...in short, if your Land Rover has oxygen / lambda sensors in the exhaust (one before, one after the cat, perhaps?), try getting these replaced. Sometimes, when they are poisoned they can read low oxygen and hence the engine management system backs off the fuel added and hence low power / sometimes stalling. I have had the same problem myself on a petrol engine and because there is no actual electrical fault, just an error in the reading (but still within the normal potential difference range), the diagnostics cannot detect it. Good luck. |

good one. I don't know to be honest the garage simply said they had to get LR involvled to find the problem and it had 'something to do with silicone which they use at the factory during build.'
