110 front suspension height
Hi,

I have a 110 td5 hicap that I think is a bit low at the front. I have fitted a winch bumper which may well have something to do with it.

I have been looking around at a suitable pair of springs to give the front end a lift but am at a bit of a loss as to what the actual standard height at the front should be.

I don't want to fit some nice 2" lift front springs to find that I have lifted it by too much because of the original "saggy" springs.

Can anyone recommend a pair of fronts that will lift the front of the standard 100 hi cap with a winch / winch bumper on the front?

Cheers,

Dave

110 HD fronts, AKA 90 standard rears do the job perfectly (as fitted by the factory)

With no winch etc fitted, you'll get about 1.5" of lift but with a winch the height is more or less standard.

and they're cheap.

Dave,

I have had the same problem with mine (TJM bumper, Spots and upgraded winch.

My choice in the end has been togo for OME 751s. They should bring it back to standard height/ maybe a little bit higher.

I am a firm believer in fitting upgraded equipment when it needs changing so will be fitting Koni shocks/ turrets and HD turret rings at the same time.

Thanks for that,

Ideally I could do with an inch or so above standard as the winch sticks out the front and reduces the approach angle somewhat. Adding a slight lift would go someway to restoring this.

Additionally, I dislike the "nose down, arse up" look however I appreciate I cant really lose this entirely.

So suggestions of a plus 1 lift, with the weight of the winch, would be perfect.

Thanks for the help so far,

Dave

I put 110 std height HD springs and shocks on the back, should I put HD on the front, has a winch bumper, but no winch yet will it make it too strong or should I stick with some new STD springs? Don't want to lift it really, although it will be higher than the worn out springs currently on the front I know Thumbs Up Over on D3

My 110DC sat nose down, i have recently put Famous Four +1 inch springs on the front and it now sits level, but has raised it over 2 inches measured at the front bumper

Depending on winch and bumper will indicate height.

I have a TJM bull bar: 25-30Kg

Upgraded 8274 winch: 55Kg (inc failead and hook)

Lightforce Blitz 240s: 2Kg

So I have approx about 80Kg over a normal bumper.

If you go for a smaller winch and regular winch bumper you will only have something like 40-45kg over normal weight so if going for OME 751s they will probably have about a 1-1.5" lift.

Why do you need the clearance at the front?

110 as standard has an approach angle of 49 degrees, but a departure angle of 35 degrees. If you approach a slope at a 45 degree angle the front will clear, but then when your rear end gets there it will dig in and you will be going nowhere quick. If you drop the front by 1 inch with a winch you will probably still have a 35+ degree approach angle.

I have a heavier bumper, a warn 9500HSi and will have a bull bar with lights...As someone mentioned above, I fitted HD springs to the front of my DC...And they're fine! It's levelled and performs well... Regards
