Ashtray hole size
Hi guys and girls,

Can anyone help me please? I need to know the size of the hole that the ashtray sits in. I'm going to make a satnav plinth for my arctic trip next january and would like to use this hole to mount it. I know what you're all thinking, why doesn't the lazy git just go out and measure it himself?! Unfortunately the 90 is about 3000 miles away at the moment, so hopefully someone can help me out? Wink

Of course if anyone has any ideas of how to mount a Garmin276c using the ashtray hole that would be great to see as well.

Thanks,

Mark.

That is a genius idea Andy, any idea who makes the mount or is it homemade?

Thanks,

Mark

Hiya Mark, have you seen Ram Mounts? its a modular system so you buy what you want/need. I have a suction cup mount for my 276c sticks on to the windscreen so it fits any vehicle, you could also use a flat plate mount screwed on to the ashtray. i thought of this but decided a suction cup would be more secure.
Maybe not the cheapest solution but the quality is there.... and you being an expat & all...... Cool
I would post a photo but like you, mine is far far away Sad

Great job Andy

That just inspired me to get out the useless phone holder I already have on which the sucker refuses to work, a 2mm drill bit and "Hey Presto!!"

Obviously as I am using the phone to take the photos I cannot show it in situe, however now I can easilly use it for Co-Pilot SatNav.

Thank you Gavin,

Obviously there will probably be the usual Land Rover tolerances, but it gives me a starting point to make my mount for the GPS. Very Happy
