I got the engine dropped into the project90 today as well.... seeing as there's a picture of a Td5 on an engine stand up there ^^^^ i won't post mine Laughing Laughing

Jason.... regarding the locking of the crankshaft whilst you tighten the flywheel bolts.... easy... as you look at the flywheel, one of the threaded holes in the block on the LH side of the flywheel, about the 10 o'clock position, is really close to the starter ring.... so i put a long bolt in there, through a socket (think i was something like 17mm) 1/2" drive, this left a gap between the starter ring and said socket of about 10mm, enough to wedge in a piece of wood.

With the engine on the floor being partially supported by the crane, the bolts did up to the 81lb/ft easily... the engine didn't move an inch (as it's friggin heavy!)

The piece of wood was well and truly wedged in the gap, but just undoing the bolt to remove it, it all came away easily.

Didn't get any pics of that though.

Thanks Jim

That's sort of the same tip that Ian gave me, instead of wood he said put the long bolt in same hole but then just put a pry bar into the starter ring using the bolt as a lever to lock the flywheel. It worked well when I unbolted the one that was in place so hopefully it will work the same in reverse.

Cheers, Jason.

Set off from Cheshire for the 4 hour drive to Pembrokeshire, stopped at Oswestry for fuel, filled up, then made a few phone calls, then waited for a short while for Neil from Fuel Flush (excellent service and thoroughly nice guy) to turn up and remove the tank full of unleaded from my 130. Then filled up with diesel.

So what have I learnt? amongst other things..... A completely empty 130 tank takes 77.72litres

Whilst waiting I phoned home and spoke to my daughter who very politely asked me "Daddy can I call you stupid" to which I agreed Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Now finally arrived in Pembrokeshire feeling slightly lighter in the wallet and suitably stupid.

At least Pembrokeshire is a nice place to be. I was there a couple of weeks ago, around St Davids.

Soon said sorry and got back in his little car ........ Bloody boy racers Twisted Evil

The FL2 has a misfuel device built in, as I found out to my benifit one late evening.... I know that you can buy a similar device for other cars http://www.misfuellingprevention.co.uk/fittinglist.asp but it appears that they don't do one for a Defender yet.

250 mile round trip to pick up this totally unmolested and original lightweight with fsh and mot Whistle

Series 3 lightweight, truck cab, homemade roll cage. Hmmmm

What's the plate on it? Can't remember but think it was something like *&^ 908X

I may know it from 18 years ago Neutral (although it was blue and assume there are plenty of LAPs with truck cabs and roll cages it just looks very familiar)

If it's got an arctic heater between the seats and a 2.25 diesel in it then chances are it's the same car.
