2008 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 CSW Alpine White

Warn hi / low beam spots

What is the highest wattage H4 anybody has successfully run in these lamps without them overheating and blowing?

The marking on the back is 55/60w but I don't know if thats just for type approval etc.

With the correct rated wiring, relays and circuit protection the only limiting factor would be the melting threshold of the lenses and lamp casing itself.

EG. For individually wired lights independant of one another with a filament rated at 130 Watts your current draw would be just under 11 amps.

Just under 9 amps for 100 Watts.

If they're the same ones as these I would say they would handle 100 Watts no problem at all.

I have 4 Hella Jumbo 220s up front and use 100w bulbs . They recomend 55w cos the 100w might melt the reflectors but iv never had a problem in 6 yrs .

I think the Warn ones in my link have glass reflectors so that wouldn't be an issue if Ickle has the same ones.

Thanks k9, those ARE the lights, ex farmer Giles who bought them and never fitted them!

I made and fitted the loom at the weekend, each pair of lights fed with 4mm, split into 2.5mm near the front, same for the headlights as well so I hope to have the option of 100/80 w in all lights.

Headlights conventionally set, the Warns aimed to right hand dip and switched so that either the conventional dip beam is used or the warn 'dip' beam for continental use.

If the Warns won't give an effective dip pattern, has anyone ever tried to fit a 5 3/4" insert into a KC Daylighter housing ? The KC sealed beams appear to be 5 3/4" across.
