Rear work light feed
Ok some help required
I've just got myself a cracking LED light from Bpman and was thinking I could use the wires that are if I think correct are already in the loom for the heated rear window or rear washer in a station wagon but aren't used in my DC
Am I right in thinking there would be cables behind centre dash ready for the switch and poss behind panel in rear off side of tube
If so what colours are they ?
I already have some spare switches that I brought which are heated seat ones which I was going to use for the light bar will these be ok ?
Cheers fellas It's good to be back from the dark side

you could put a LED reversing light in the rear and parallel the led bar on, or behind the offside rear speaker you will find a black and purple wire, this is a fused 12v feed.

I'm sure that I've read here before that the black and purple wires are no longer included on 12MY vehicles. If that's the case and LR are really penny pinching, the it's possible that the HRW/RWW wiring isn't there either. The only way to be sure is to open it up and take a look. Darren

I did exactly this on my 07 DC and I think I posted how I did it. I will have a search tomorrow. On mine all the wiring including the relay was present, and all I had to do was fit the HRW switch. I also changed the feed to the switch from an IGN ON to permanent live so the lights can be on without the engine running.

The black and purple wires are definitely not there on my 2.2. I pored through the wiring diagram posted by DGardel and could find no trace of them on there. I didn't have the energy to look at the older wiring diagrams and find where they were, in order to double check where they weren't.

It seems like a lot of effort to save a measly few pence.

Can't remember why, but was advised when fitting my LED rear lamps to fit a relay to to the switch, which seemed best to run straight from the battery, and fit an in-line fuse in the battery box with the relay too.
Okay just remembered why, think its to do with the switch illumination, as won't illuminate unless it comes off a relay - handy to have an in-cab reminder especially if you occidentally switch them on, whilst on the road, tends to blind the driver behind even though he has his full beam on you.
Hope this helps with your fitment.

This may not help if the wires are not there, but this is how I did a 2 way switch on mine.

I wanted to wire in an additional 12v socket but gave up when I couldn't get the speaker cover off - fail

I think as I have a drawer fitted it was stopping the cover from releasing and moving away from the body, so probably will end up putting a new feed from the battery when I have time.

Have seen a wiring plan to add a switch in the rear so it can work as a reverse light and a work light which seemed like a good idea.

If you use the HRW wiring as I did you get the illuminated switch and if the engine's running a warning light on the dash.

This is the post I was thinking of here but it doesn't tell you as much as I remembered, I am afraid.
