Has any of the sponsors ever thought of producing a LED version of this unit? I mean take the original plastic housing, and instead of the standard 21W bulb, replace this by a high quality red LED unit.
I can imagine that in the first place many SVX/ICE/FIRE/X-Tech drivers, but also others who have replaced the standard rear lights setup by LED versions would be interested to get that one remaining standard light replaced by a matching LED unit. Not the cheap Chinese stuff, but high quality with proper E marking like you already find with the rear lamps setup of the mentioned special editions. I would be interested that's for sure. I am talking about the 90 and 110 SVX station wagons, not the convertibles. So same brake light unit as on any other regular 90/110 station wagon Defender. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Nothing there yet. Personally don't know irbdevelopment, but would expect Tim from Mobilecentre to react to this suggestion, surely if there would be more potential enteressees You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

It will replace the existing just will need fixing, we have been working on a tinted glass rear window with LED brake light. The same lamp can be used on pretty much any defender it will just need bonding on.

That's a shame then. When I changed the rest of the rear lights on mine, I spent ages looking for an LED equivalent for the high-level brake light, and when I saw this thread, thought someone had developed a drop in LED replacement which was a simple fit into the OEM housing. With the ease of which the heated rear window elements can be damaged by the existing housing, I don't think I'm going to want to be removing and replacing it. Pete |

Same here Had hoped for a plug 'n play replacement unit. Tim, would that be so difficult? You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.
