United Kingdom 2015 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 USW Corris Grey
My first Puma was a 110 XS CSW and was one of the early ones purchased new in 2007. The vehicle proved reliable in the three years I owned it but had to go back to the dealers several times for issues such as clutch, rust, the usual water ingress etc. When the warranty expired and MOT's started I chopped that one in for a new 110 XS USW which again has proved reliable, has again got the usual rusty bits and water ingress etc may be up for replacement early next year depending on how I feel after testing a Ranger.

Both Pumas were rustproofed very early on so the main parts like chassis bulkhead kept fine but finish on external bolt ons like side & rear steps, bumper, headlamp rims, intercooler grille, mudflap brackets, hinge screws etc all suffrered to a greater of lesser degree.

Reliability wise the Pumas have been no better or worse than any of the many previous 90, 110, 88, 109 etc I've had over the years, but they are easier to live with in terms of day to day driving. I personally don't find the water based paints used now are as durable, the finish of bolt on bits is worse and the overall quality control remains as bad as ever. Get a good one and you are ok but get a bad one and you are forever back at the dealers - a bit like any other vehicle really. Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades.
Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW.

Had my 110 XS SW for 3 1/2 years and 23k miles now, had all the usual bits done under warranty (clutch, both screens, door seals, brake vacuum pump, cracked turbo pipe), I'm hoping now it will be as good as my previous 1999 90 which I had until 90k miles with only a rear hub being replaced in that time.

I would change it for a D4 but just can't justify the extra money and depreciation.

Now on my 3rd 110 XS Puma, (First in Cairns Blue, last 2 in Grey) plus a now sold SVX

The first was a very early one, May 07, no problem bar a ABS sensor at 600 miles, Replace after 2 years with a 09 plate, that had nothing done to it whatsoever,,

Now on a 2011 model, just had the headlamp rings changed, and that's it,,

Just about to sell the current one, Confused and will be replaced with the same again,,a 2013MY 110 XS next year
IF i can get my head round a 2.2 and DPF Shocked

All mine have only covered about 15-18k, stored in the garage and not use day to day, Range Rover for that !! just long foreign trips and towing jobs,,(just put 3000 miles on in 2 weeks round the Alps)

Why do i change them, cause i can, and lose very little in the deals California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Yes , and 2 stroke in every tank full

What proportion 2 stroke to Derv? Was the 2 stroke synthetic, mineral, or part each mixture?
Also do you have shares in Silkolene? Whistle Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

do you use JASO FB or FC.

I have been using in various strengths Castrol 2T FC. About 250ml in a 90 tank. BM52

What I've been told for 2S on chain saws etc. Mineral best. Ditto for chain lube. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

I'm on my second this year. The Swiss wouldn't let me import my 2.4 in January as it was only Euro4. So I sold it and bought a 2.2 which I love. Plan to keep it for a very long time even though the missus HATES it.

X2 Laughing But the missus accepts that I love it dearly Thumbs Up
Main complaint being that a few times last winter she and my daughter were in the back seat, and their feet were freezing solid. We are not there yet, but winter is closing in slowly... Whistle You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.
