Cheers guys, I'm pleased with the way it's looking now.
@Steve, yep stainless door strips from YRM Metal Solutions. The rear one was a pig to do because all the old screws sheared off, I started drilling them out, but it was a total PITA, so I decided to just shift the whole thing over 5mm and drill new holes - much easier! @bpman - yeah, makes a big difference to the overall look. As I say, been wanting to do it for ages. Haven't driven it much on the new tyres yet, but first impressions are pretty much exactly the same as the Grabbers. Checked the lock stops and no need for adjustment. @bob - yep, fitted a treat thanks! Especially after all your helpful advice, I knew what to look out for. Did have to trim the front mudflaps slightly as you suggested, and also the rear wheelarch eyebrows slightly on mine. The fit of the passenger side one was slightly better than the drivers side - drivers side needed a couple of washers on the front bracket to fill the gap between bracket and outrigger, which in turn means the nut on the bulkhead bolt only just goes on to the remaining thread. But fitting the rock sliders was a hell of a lot easier than getting the old sills off! 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green |

It's a private plate, actually a 2005, but still not looking bad for nearly 7 years old. 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

Love the more rugged look Green Machine and love the grille! Then again I would, I recently bought the same in satin black!
See my post page 1 here: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic9320.html?highlight=tailgate Rear tailgate strip was quite corroded on mine which also made it hard for original screw removal....
Steve, Entreq make some nice ones but probably more expensive than the ones depicted. I bought the Entreq ones and they are easy to fit and top quality. (Page 2 of the same link Steve). If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |
