More questions than answers?
This is where i had the DC100 all along. Where it leaves the Defender replacement im not too sure. I hope that this is right because i like the DC100 here, just not as a replacement for a legend of a car

Well let's hope they are just adding another vehicle to their range to cover a wider market and just keeping us die hard fans in the dark about the defender replacement/upgrade Whistle Russell

Question Question Question Question Question Question
I dont understand

Quote:
The other option is to build it on the new-generation Defender architecture, which is expected to be a traditional separate ladder frame chassis....

The new entry-level model would be part of what Land Rover internally refers to as its leisure-oriented range, the others being utility (Defender) and luxury (Range Rovers, including the Evoque).

That means that the New Defender definitively will took another path? Eduardo

Sounds like LR have come to their senses. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

DC100 for all the 'Wannabes' like jeep FJs and wrangler owners (UK ones)- basically people who want to appear as an adventurer but are scared to leave the black stuff.

Then........... Defender can go back to being a utility/ serious off-road/ overland vehicle and there won't be a bunch of city folk complaining about its agricultural drive.

Well let's face it, we know they have to get with the times but there is no way they are going to an entire section of the utility market to Nissan, Toyota and ford are they!

And you never know they may go after their military contracts again and don't forget the British red cross and the born free foundation and alike. Russell

Still think a D3/D4 chassis will form the underpinnings of the next Defender. Maybe with a resemblance to this DC100, which is mybe why LR moved the D4 look upmarket to create some differential. Also using a D4 means they know they'll pass the Fed safety regs, thus guaranteeing an easy return to the US market which LR are keen on.

just read the article....

bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla ......... bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla blazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz .........

and no news on the new Defender?? Confused

oh and again "but reaction to it in its present state has been so overwhelmingly positive" ?! Shocked how can they continue to say that?.... I see positive feedback, even here, on 3 out of 10 comments! How can that be considered overwhelmingly positive?? Regards

Remember........ the positive comments aren't about forums and die-hard Defender/ Land Rover fans. It is about people who go to the motor shows- they will ask some interior designer from Prague what she thinks of it- WHF would she know about it other than it looks pretty........... Which is a tick in the 'Positive feedback' box.

Also note that this article was posted many months ago, although Land Rover have not made any public comments on it since.

What also scares me is that they won't renew/replace the defender at all. Guess the other option could be to move production to India?

Who knows, but if you look at the DC100 in context, i.e. in comparison to Land Cruiser, Shogun, even Freelander is it that bad. I hated it to begin with, but if its a smaller, more utilitarian version of the D4 then it may be an option for me.

But we cannot make any definitive conclusions on the information available so far.
