Hi, with my clutch my height & low range gear stick started to rattle,
If you're finding it hard to get it in to second, you probably need a new selector NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE ANYWAY |

Clutch - excessive drivechain shunt and also in low range on tick over sounds like the worlds ending.
Gearbox and ECU - See my post on warrenty work in this section. Just had the gear stick assembly replaced. With both the above - drives like a new car. If your dealers being a cock, Hunters at Guildford get my vote although it would be a bit of a drive. The whole dealer network seem very hit and miss. Its taken me a while to find one I trust, but I still ask for the technicians check sheet when i pick it up. If they flap when you ask for it, investigate more!! Hope this helps. Ian |

Keep onto the dealer, and if you know who to contact at Land Rover, them too!. The TDCi transiission (the whole of it) is, I'm sorry to say, pant, pants and more pants!!!!!! LR realy need to get their act together. In case you haven't gathered, I'm one very, very, unhappy LR customer. I realy would like to promote LR as the last bastion of the British motor industry, but I fear I,m losing the inevitable battle. Comments welcome.

Wholly agree with you, after many Land Rovers (over 30 years) and now LR's attitdute to problems regarding my new 90XS, let alone the build quality, I brought the wife a Volvo rather than a new Freelander. Very sadly LR and the dealers cannot be trusted to give even a token of the service that any other manufacturer deems normal.
Is any other manufacturers/dealers standard reply 'what do you expect' when you spend £26k on a vehicle? Why, oh why, do we still love em? |

In my instance the transfer case started to rattle when at idle. Stealers told me no problem, your clutch is fine. Yesterday, 750km from home, just outside the Central Kalahari desert, my clutch packs up entirely. I was towed all 750km by a mate in his Toyota Land Cruiser. Sad.
