Mr. Green It will be a mean thing once I have finished tuning for sure. With a bit more work i think not many 4x4's will catch it.

Seeing the 90 in the flesh at Billing was quite impressive!

Could this be the best engine conversion for a Defender?

I really think so.

Hello from FullFatRR! First post here Mr. Green

Could a 3.2 TDCI placed into a ~2004 TD5? 110 Station Wagon?

The lack of power with the defender is the sole reason I don't own one, I'd happily replace my TD6 RR with a 3.2TDCI defender if possible.. I ask about doing this to an older TD5 as my budget for one would be ~16-18k max

Pete will probably let you know if is possible, but don't forget if you only have 16-18k budget alot of that would be swallowed up in the cost of an engine/gearbox.

It will fit but you will need to weld new engine mounts to the chassis also you would need to change the transfer box to a 1.2 version ?
Personally I would step up to a puma then convert it as its proven that the clocks work and so on

Steve 2015 2.2 tdci hardtop xs
3.2 conversion DONE 238bhp and 707nm torque and thats just the start ;-P
hybrid turbo in build -done ready to fit

I Agree with Steve, I think the best starting Defender would be at least a MY2007 2.4TDCI Puma. Though it is possibile in the TD5 you would spend a lot more on parts that are already in the puma as standard to make it work.

I have the 200ps in my transit - its performance is amazing.

I'd kill for one in my defender! Dont think the budget will stretch though....

Just saw it in the flesh at Eastnor - it looks soooo standard, you have to count the injector pipes to see its not.

First class installation.

Don't you mean step down to the Puma then convert it. TD5 to Puma to 3.2TDCI is like one step backwards then one set forwards Wink

The conversion to the 3.2 looks amazing a true factory looking fitment. I forgot to take any pictures though.

Totally agree, i've been contemplating moving to the Puma for this very reason but that would be a complete waste of a domain name. Unless I keep hold of the TD5 for weekends Wink
