I found the show quite enjoyable, low key and social. There's not a lot anyone can do about the weather but was a little disappointed in that the organisers didn't do much to help ease the the passage of the foot traffic around the stands. I'm sure a word with the site owners could have diverted one of the trailer loads of straw that was travelling up the entrance route to be laid down to provide easier, safer walking. I'm sure an appeal to show goers for volunteers to help spread out the staw wouldn't have gone unanswered if they hadn't got enough staff there and then. Yes there wasn't much in the way of "something for nothing", the autojumble showed why ebay and the like exists but hey we live in a world where people need to make money and it's up to you if you want to pay over the odds but take it home there and then.
What must be remembered is that this was in effect a "New" show, granted on the site of a show that used to be, but the last one was 3 years ago, this one wasn't affiliated to a magazine and no big corporation running the thing but at least it went ahead with the best of this years summer weather, even if it was a tadge loud on the Saturday!

Our first Defender/Land Rover show, but we're used to the Capri/classic Ford shows. It was good fun. Lots to see. I'm surprised companies like Twisted wern't there. Good Winch demonstration but had to leave before the monster truck demo Big Cry .
Loved the metallic green defender. Need to see some photo's of that as I didn't bring my camera Rolling Eyes
But the best bit was meeting a couple of you guys!
Didn't do the experience convoy (as drove the Capri to the event Cool painting the underside this morning. But I would expect that that would have made the show for anyone Thumbs Up I was hoping for some more demonstrations though, but they had to keep the show arena in good condition (and it was better than most of the walkways Whistle )
Son got stung by a bee at the pick n' mix, that'll teach him Shocked
Looking forward to more shows and a proper meet up with the forum Very Happy Clare

Was a pleasure to met you Clare Smile

What Metallic green Defender are we referring to? In the showground or on the Defender2 pitch? Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

Guilty Embarassed

Mind you we didn't actually see the stand and, to be honest, we were so unimpressed we just wanted to leave and go off on the Experience drive...

It was just along from BAS and had a number of TD5 and Puma Defenders on it with with chuffing huge Defender2 banner Rolling Eyes John

The days of the great shows are over, I think that it really is time for all parties to agree on two shows, one in spring and another late summer
i can understand why the main traders stay away, they cannot keep committing their personal time and that of their staff to show upon show with little in return for the effort.

The trouble with eastnor this year was the proximity to Billing & Peterborough. 3 shows in 4 weeks is too much!

In the past Eastnor was OK if you go with a club as a social weekend, but pretty useless from a trade point of view. This year all the shows are more expensive for traders. Billing cost increased by 50% on last year - and for what? It's got to the point with the big shows that in terms of selling stuff, you are lucky to break even which makes eBay and Paypal look good value!

You do get a certain amount of advertising value out of being there and talking to people - but that only works if there are the people to talk to!

I agree that there are too many shows! Having said that, I've booked to go to the Donington 4x4 show on Feb 17th 2013 as trade stands are good value at about £180 so there is a much better chance of breaking even! That in turn translates in to better deals, which turns in to more people in subsequent years and so on. That's the thing the shows like Billing seem to have forgotten.

I wish there were only two shows - but next year we plan to attend Donnington, Bristol & West, Billing & Peterborough - that's enough for one year!

we had a good weekend on the Mobilecentre/ Speaker /irb stand. Bit muddy but good fun, always is on our stand anyway what ever the weather...... Was a big family event for my lot, we camped away from showground at the very top of the camping fileld, right in the middle of the Beligum LandRover club gang.
De-Rek our 90 was put in good use the weekend has event support landy, towing damsel's in distress and caravans to where they needed to be. Like me Cockney- Dad say's , its not just the show, but the social side of it.....Ada Putting Dreams on Drives at JLR Solihull..

i really enjoyed the show and can appreciate how weather can cause problems for organisers.
Thanks John and Jo for organising the club stand and your hospitality on arrival, and it was great to meet a few more forum members, too. Mrs FG and little Ben were most appreciative of the covered area when the heavens opened.

Mrs FG said she was most supprised that the big burly land rover men were scared by the thunder and lightning Laughing

Good to see the happy boys down at Mobile Centre, too - does Tim spike their drinks as they are perminantly happy????????

I don't want to pick any holes or 'owt, but put some new headlamp retaining rings on that 90 of yours. It doesn't half spoil the look of the LED headlights Whistle

They will be changed before Peterborough - just need to decide what colour... I'm scared Tims pink fetish has rubbed off on me. In saying that, I think I will stay with the 'au naturale' stainless look.

There will be numerous other changes made before the next show... work load has taken priority over my own vehicle preparation. But lots of exciting new products and services Whistle
