Same reason I don't advertise my name and address here

Sadly the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licencing Agency) will happily sell your details to anyone. So spotting a nice vehicle on the internet could result in a visit a few weeks later and your pride and joy disapearing.

And yes I know someone could just read my plate in the street but why make it any easier

And vehicle cloning is much more common these days, especially as the UK is getting more and more ANPR Cameras (Automatic Number Plate Readers). Using a plate from an identical vehicle is a way of avoiding having to pay for Insurance, Road Tax and makes you immune from speed cameras. Very little chance of getting stopped by the Police these days. I was recently told by a senior Police Officer in Hertfordshire that at any one time there is only likely to be three traffic cars operating in the whole County! (an area of 1000 square kilometres with a population of 1.1 million) Shocked MAD COW

Given that the A11 was closed on the way back from Norfolk today, and there seemed to be zero organisation to detour anyone around the 3 car accident, I would believe that statistic for most forces!

Still, nice detour from SatNav, and past a sainsburies where I could fill up the Disco with 5p liter off!
