Self leveling screed
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for the above. My garage floor is dry and dusty with quite a few rough and worn parts that have depressions, mini potholes etc.

I just want to seal it [PVA?], screed and then paint. I am not after a perfect finish, just a much better finish. I am rubbish at plastering so a self leveling solution sounds good.

Thanks. BM52

For the pot holes use granno. Screed doesn't go far and isn't cheap.

our garage floor was permanaently dusty so i just used the cheapest emulsion paint i could find. it won't solve the pothole problem but it will seal the surface and make it easy to clean. first coat was heavily watered down, second coat was neat.

Self levellng compound is not cheap! Consider carefully how rough the floor is and where and how you will be working in your garage. Can you move work bench/storage units over the worst areas?

Thoroughly sweep/vacuum garage. PVA diluted 50/50 with water painted over floor leave for 24 hours. Worst areas where you do not want them try self levelling compound. Floor paint will cover minor defects.

You might be as well just to fill the deeper holes. Costo were doing a garage floor covering (bit like lino) weren't a bad price from memory.

Wickes own self levelling is quite good, and the tip for it is to over water it and make the floor wet before applying. If you want a nice garage floor then paint it with 2part apoxy resin, that is what workshops/factories have. Wickes also sell a floor stabiliser, have some but have not yet used.

Thanks for the replies. The wickes stuff looks good. Just been reading it up. Looks like I will need about 4 bags to skim the back half of the garage and then paint.

Cheers Thumbs Up Thumbs Up BM52
