Front seats in the rear of Defender 130?
Hi All,

Im sure i have seen people do this before. Does anyone know what modification is required to fit front seats in place of the rear 60/40 bench seat normally found in the defender 130? Pictures would be great if anyone has any??

Thanks

Steve

I have just ordered some Scheel-mann LR Sportsline seats and was planning the same. I was thinking of some type of RHS sub-frame using the original seat bolt holes in the Mud rail style. However still waiting for delivery, hope they are good they cost a good quid, if it works out I will put a fridge between them. Thumbs Up

There are some consoles from a german supplier, http://www.wmparts.de/parts.php?akt_uk_id=16, but I do not know if they would fit a 130.

I know from ploughing through some forums a few years back that people have done it. Just trying to find out what the best way is. I guess there should really be an extended subframe for the seat to sit on as the raised area in the back of the 130 is not long enough to support the front of the seats. Also, i think the seats would probably be too low anyway.

Looks like they have built a frame for each seat.

I've just emailed WM Parts in Germany for price for delivery to UK. Thank you AlpenAndes for the Link.

Welcome, I asked them as well, they said with a slight mod of the frame they do for a few Euros it also fits the 130. Lets see what they tell you.

That does look like a good system, and with lockable drawers underneath too. Just over £300. Plus getting it to the UK.

I had this made from plans posted on LR4x4, its intended for a 110 station wagon but it maybe a good starting point?

Just beware it restricts head room quite a bit!

Jeremy,

Have you tried just making the mounts lower? I noticed that thee bracket you have made sits twice as high as the ones on the WM website?

No, but I think that would work. If anything the one I had made is over engineered so to cut it down it would almost be easier to start again.

I dont have the time (or skills!) to have a go but if someone here does they're welcome to more accurate photos/ dimensions of my effort
