one for kingofthesparks
hi,

going by your name I'm hoping you might be able to help me the following;

electrical swithcroom containing 11kv transformer and switching also has some LV equipment.
following a recent periodic inspection some remedial works were carried out on the LV equipment by someone who isn't hv trained.

what are your thoughts.......should he or shouldn't he be hv trained?

thanks up front.

Sorry to butt in.....but it is an open thread I presume and not solely directed at KOTS? The rules are by nature open to interpretation dependant on how you read them. As I see it.....

No he isn't 'required' to be HV trained, nevertheless from a 'best trade practice' and 'company policy' perspective that is one for their own consciences.

The remedial work as I understand it, was just that, remedial, as long as no new installation was carried out. Presumably the item that failed it's periodic inspection that called up the remedial work has been rechecked and signed off accordingly by someone who is suitably qualified making everything above board?

Hope this helps. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!!

Mal,

open to all responses - and thank you for yours.

not sure if you interpretted my querey or not (I may not have explained myself well).

just to confirm the remedial works were not hv and the person was suitably qualified for the works he completed. its the fact that there is hv equipment within the same room and its on this basis I'm not entirely sure what is and isn't acceptable by law ie HSE and electricity at work act.

thanks again.
