No Power + oil leak
CarlS is on his way home from York, has just rang to say that the Red Dwarf is down on power. Investigating the problem he has found black oil running down the inside of both headlights (between the grill and lights) I am suspecting an intercooler problem or intercooler pipe problem. He has taken the cover off the front of the engine but has found nothing obvious. Evil or Very Mad Twisted Evil Banging Head Banging Head Looks like yet another call to LRA.

Sorry to read your bad news, how many miles has Red done? A farmer friend of mine has a base 90 which has now done 6K, 5 of which its had a large stock trailer on the back, shifting cows and sheep, not even a cough or splutter. Whats broken now ?

No Big Cry The symptoms are

Engine oil light ON when engine oil level is correct.
Un even tick over. The idling is all over the place.
Intermittent lack of power.
Using engine oil.
EGR throwing up faults.

Other issues are

Gearbox 'chatters' and is noisy.
Oil Leaks from front and rear out put shafts on the Transfer box
Noisy rear diff on overrun.

Apart from these few problems everything is fine Thumbs Up

The reports on the same engine in the transit are far from glowing

Pump or turbo (or both) but either way, LR will be paying, I hope Confused

Still in the dealers waiting for LR to tell them what to do next with regard to the intermittent lack of power. In the mean time a new gearbox and yet another rear diff has been ordered.

FFS! I'd be sat in a cell tonight using the benefit of hindsight to question the wisdom of sticking a Freelander engine up somebody's backside.

Bow down for not killing anyone.

Yet.
