This is how i close mine and instructed GF a couple of weeks ago.
get in laying on your back, close zips with right hand if zips on left side. To keep tension on the zips stretch feet as deep as possible pushing on end of bag while pulling zips find zip locking velcro patch and close find cap closing/tightening lace and pull tight till cap nicely closes around your head. (found it more difficult to close down everything if cap is tightened before getting in. (put lace outside of bag before falling asleep or you can hang yourself on it  )
Oh and almost forgot, You have to take the sleeping bag out of the transport bag before getting in.

I also bought some Swedish Army 4 Season bags, these have big zips right up the middle/top/front of the bag - much more sensible IMHO. Plan is to take both and see how we get on. |

What's the procedure if you need to go pee pee in the middle of the night

having a pee easy just take in with you a 5lt empty spring water bottle and pee in that then use it as a hot water bottle

Seperate sleeping bags...... missing the trick of body heat there!!
Last time I was -40 I was using a -25 (comfort) sleeping bag with a silk liner and goretex bivi bag. Wasn't cold at any point. Worked really well. As for peeing in the middle of the night- I found that -40 isn't bad providing it isn't windy. Most of the time you can just get up- go to the designated yellow hole and then head back to the sleeping bag- only get chilly around the edges which soon goes once back snug as a bug in a sleeping bag. talking of peeing - DJ told me about Travel-Johns - I'd not heard about them but they seem quite a good idea for arctic conditions

You are far more prepared than me BPman. Tundra Pure and dry -40 arrived a couple of weeks ago as has most of my base layers. The 90 went into Devon a couple of weeks ago for major work prior to the trip, hopefully to be finished sometime in December. I also managed to get hold of one of the American forces sleep systems tha tIan recommends. Where did you get your Reindeer skins from?
