Just Curious,
Why so many Landrovers get stolen over there.
How ?? Do people leave the keys in them??

Dont they have immobilisers ??, They have to be fitted standard here & you cant get insurance without them.

Ive never heard of a Landrover being stolen here, & If I lost my key fob I'd never be able to start my Td5.

Also Doors & Bonnets, never heard of them being stolen here .

Altho I do have a TK103 fitted in my Defender & a TK102 in my Caravan just incase.
For about $100 its good insurance, If somone does steal the Defer I can track it on my computer & immobilise it.

as earlier 90, 110 are rotting out here and they still have a great value they are worth restoring, ringing and generally nicking for parts.

Landrover didn't really do anything security wise untill the puma. The later td5 had an imobiliser but with a few unlocked parts and 5 minutes your away.

200 / 300 / and early td5 had no such things Big Cry

But if your not up with it you'd think why would anyone nicl an old landrover?

My wife thinks im mental locking up the 110 with sterring and pedal lock Rolling Eyes

Britain has a high volume of scum, who would much prefer to take things instead of working and paying for them.

Plus there are a lot of people who want cheap parts, who don't care where they come from, as long as the price is right....these people are often the same people who moan about Land Rovers being stolen.

The penalty for this crime is either a stern telling off, or a couple of months of 3 square meals a day, game stations and a gym, endless supply of drugs and stuff (often mistaken for being held at Her Majesty's pleasure) Evil or Very Mad

Ok that helps explain it.

My 04 td5 had immobiliser standard, i thought they all were

Also possibly why its cheaper for me to buy Defender parts from ebay UK & get them flown here than from local suppliers (who probably also buy from the same source?? ) !!

no wonder you blokes are paranoid, i highly reccomend you jump onto ebay and buy yourselves a tk102 & hard wired charger to fix in your Landrovers.

Brighton has an ANPR enabled CCTV network on all the roads in and out so I would expect the police to be able to do something using that  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Agree fully on the tk102 or other type.

Police has to act when you are able to pinpoint your car or they can be held responsible, big difference with the standard "we will look out for it" procedure.

Just one thing about it, install it yourself and dont register it at your insurance (even if that would give you a discount).

I had one car stolen 2 weeks after mandatory installation (insurance) of an alarm system. They drove off with it using a fob and key as if it was theirs.

Same goes for house alarms btw

pulling a list from a database takes a minute for a rotten apple but is worth a years payment. A lot of insurance companies give full access to customer data on their system for their brokers, just imagine how many possibilities for leaks that is.

Hope for the owner they find it back

Smile
