the ride on the 300 is the best; the cornering is really planted even on 235/85s because it has the konis on it. The Td5 just had the spring drop but kept the factory shocks. Personally i think the shocks make far more difference than the lowering,

are you running gas shocks Chris?

Interesting stuff this.

We run a 90 on the full John Eales handling kit so slowered springs but not much higher spring rate and instead it's got very tight anti roll bars and Koni Raid's set to "punish spine" setting.

It turns in and drifts surprisingly well. For a 90 it's quite neutral.

Do you find you get tyre skip on poor roads if giving some mid corner? I've been thinking that the next front dampers I use I'll maybe wind things off a touch as you can end up skittering on the potholes like some sort of modern car with a smear of black for a tyre! 90XS Tdci John Eales

hi phil,
i cannot recall any tyre skip, but on smooth wet tarmac the 300 tdi could drift on roundabouts when encouraged Embarassed I have spend 9 hours driving upto fort william and the journey was quite comfortable. This one also had uprated anti roll bars fitted.

the td5 was a harsher ride; 5 hrs driving to south Cornwall i was nowhere near as fresh as the 300 tdi long journeys.

J E Engineering did the suspension mods on both vehicles
