The 110 looks like the love-child of a Defender and the new Toyota FJ

The last two ones look like what you'd get if you tried to make a Series 3 out of icing to top a cake Geoff

On a serious note though, this is why I am warming to the DC100 as it is NOT a clone of the original. If Land Rover tried to make it look like the current Defender it wouldn't look right anyway.
I still see the DC100 as a short wheelbase Disco, without all the bells and whistles but in a good way. In fact I am sure I have read somewhere that LR are looking at developing a common platform for the Defender and Disco to share - which again makes sense from a cost point of view as the new RR Sport will not be based on the Disco any more. |

I hope they don't go to a common platform, If the Defender goes Independant Suspension I'll never buy one.
The new Nissan Patrol has gone IFS , Rumor of dropping the 70 series cruiser (in this market anyway) which makes the Current Defender & Mercedes G-Wagen the only 2 left with Live Axles . The Future is not looking good for proper 4x4's. |

Auto'We know nothing about cars'car yet again reminding me why I don't waste my money on it!!!
Discovery was never aimed at the off-road/ farmers market. It was aimed to bridge the gap between Defender (and compete with Land Cruiser and Shogun)and Range Rover. It was aimed at families (hence the 7 seats). The fact it ended up as an awesome off-road was that it had the Range Rover chassis which accidentally was so great off-road. Like the current Discovery- it is too expensive for people to buy as an off-road vehicle..... You have to wait 5+ years depreciation and people pick them up cheap and then off-road them!! Glyn |

I remember reading that the Disco was, in fact, intended to replace the Defender, but didn't really happen due to continuing demand in the Defender. Can't remember the source, though.

Jeep Wrangler as well? I don't get why other companies seem to successfully adore their iconic models, yet Land Rover seems positively embarrassed by it. |

No doubt Land Rover want to tart it up as the 'money' is in the Disco and RR side of things. That way with changing the current Defender it also warrents a higher price at the same time. Next thing i it will be 2L too. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

It's probably been said before, but I wouldn't be surprised if the DC100 (or some more practical-looking version of it) replaced the Freelander instead of the Defender. Geoff

Right On Brother (Actually the Jeep Rubicon comes close to the mark, Live Axles, Long Travel suspension, Diff Locks all round, but no Diesel engine in that model.) |
