The funny thing is that in my experience a landcruiser (80 series) absolutely kicks the arse of a defender offroad in pretty much every way. I have no brand loyalty one way or the other, but the 80 embarrasses the 90/110 all day long. Electronic locking diffs on front and rear axles as well as centre diff lock, much much more power and torque, tighter turning circle than a 90 (can you believe that?) not to mention about a thousand times more comfortable both on road and off.

Last weekend the two 80's had to tow or winch the 90's numerous times. Get out of an 80 and into a 90 and boy does it feel weak in terms of power.

Can't speak for modern landcruisers, never driven one.

Cheeky little advert Thumbs Up

As for the old Land Cruiser Vs Defender battle........ it is pointless... Land cruiser is compared to Discovery not Defender.

Besides, the cheapest Land Cruiser is more expensive than the most expensive Defender..... Heck, the top of the range Land Cruiser has a lesser spec than the lowest spec Range Rover and is more expensive.

Sorry, Reading thru some old posts & just about coughed my mouthful of tea onto the keyboard.

I have just got myself back into a Defender after a few years of Landcruiser ownership, a '92 Turbo Diesel 80 series & then a '06 NA Diesel 105 series, The Defender absolutely craps all over both Toyotas off & on road (apart from the roomy insides, & quieter on the road Toyotas) My remapped Td5 has more grunt & WAY WAAAAY better fuel economy than both & tows my caravan easier & faster too.

And then there is this
The 80 series makes the obstacle look like an epic feat, the 110 is having a sunday drive

I have a mate who has an 80 series its been heavily altered new bumpers pair of winches lifted 35inch tyres and more lights than halfords. All good and with the flex from the lift and clearance from the tyres as well as the axle locks it is a pretty epic thing. Until you factor in that it weighs more than Jupiter, gravity kills it, on wet ground it just sinks and on steep rocks there is little that its 160 horse power can do to drag it about. Now compare it to my 90 with just over half its weight and its not really a surprise that I walk obstacles that that the cruiser has a fit at. Don't get me wrong its a great car at some things but it's not as accomplished in the rough as my defender. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

Just wondering, what is a "Land Rover Isuzu County"? Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

OK theres a really good answer to your question on ebay in Australia at the moment

The seller has very detailed info as to what an Isuzu county is & great videos at the bottom, I'm going to try to save this as when the listing is finished the info will disappear.

BTW, they are getting rare, I was looking for an Isuzu when I was 110 shopping but fell for my Td5 instead.
I doubt a R380 could cope with the grunt from a 4BD1 so your stuck with the 4 speed, but they pull like a train.
A lot of them have now also been turboed.

Also bear in mind that they dont salt the roads here so old landrovers dont rust out, (exept if they are owned by morons that take them on the beach) which is why it looks so nice underneath.

The only thing I dont like about this is the early Landrover A/C system with that 'orrible dash & the blanked off vents. I see he has tried to fix it with a bit of downpipe plumbing work, I much prefer the non a/c version which still had the opening vents.
